With the emergence of personalized medicine, today’s physicians are challenged with a flood of new data and information, adding complexity to their daily treatment decisions. The rapid pace of medicine has resulted in hundreds of thousands of new publications, thousands of clinical trials, and dozens of new drugs that may or may not be appropriate for a given patient. Efforts of newmerous scientists also brought nonpharmacologic pain management solutions on the market. By providing both the bioinformatics and “complex data” expertise to sort through this sea of new information in real time, Lifecode will enable physicians to match the right treatment, for the right patient, at the right time in their care.
While Lifecode technology is applicable to many areas of healthcare, our initial focus is oncology. In the U.S. alone, 1.6 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year, and more than 14 million are living with the disease. Rapid advances in next-generation sequencing, biomarker profiling, and new drug development will provide the opportunity to extend the lives of cancer patients in a meaningful way.
